I decided recently that I'd like to go back and read a couple of the books I've connected with most, and this is at the top of the list. Angela's Ashes is another, also One Hundred Years of Solitude and The Corrections.
I just finally finished The Corrections, and I loved it so I gave it away immediately to someone who meant something to me at the moment. Angela's Ashes is also a major mover book in my life but I'm not sure I want to read it yet. I almost picked up a $2 One Hundred Years of Solitude the other day but was so put out, at the time, by Love in the Time of Cholera, that I left it where it was. Do you recomment it? also, what do you know about Sophie's Choice?
Haven't read Sophie's Choice, but it's on my list somewhere, probably. I recommend One Hundred Years of Solitudeway more than Love in the Time of Cholera. In fact, I don't think I would ever recommend Love in the Time of Cholera. Solitude opened my eyes up when I read it and seemed to hold a lot of possibility, whatever that really means. I guess I just mean it felt like something as original as original gets, and like it was its own world, in a similar way to things like Lord of the Rings, minus the made-up creatures. Highly recommend it.
